Measure 2.1. Tourism development

The overall objective of the project is to develop sports and active tourism in the border cooperation area by providing modern sport infrastructure and development of better conditions for active tourism.

The project will lead to the results which introduce better possibilities for the population of two partner countries to take in for sports and consequently improve its health. Due to implementation of planned sport events and construction of the new sport hall cities of Palanga and Svetlogorsk will be advertised as cities of sport tourism which will increase the sport tourists flow in two countries.

Main activities which will be implemented during the project can be divided in several groups:


  • Preparation of new tourism and recreation development strategies for Palanga and Svetlogorsk, including technical documentation for the new municipal open air stadium in Svetlogorsk. 
  • Construction of new sport hall in Palanga town, purchase of the equipment and   other supplies for it. 
  • Organization of sport events such as Tourist Olympic Games in Palanga and         Svetlogorsk. All activities will be accompanied by the relevant promotion               publications of t-shirts, booklets, posters and tilts. 
  • Organization of experience exchange measures such as project group meetings and study tours.
