The overall objective of the project is to improve living conditions of local population and an increase of tourism attractiveness by protection and improvement of the coastal water area in the South Baltic (Bay of Gdańsk and Vistula Lagoon/Kaliningrad Gulf).

The project objectives will be achieved through implementation of the following activities:

1. To direct Sopot rainwater streams further into the Bay of Gdańsk - construction of system C comprising a new cumulative land collector and sea discharge collector including accompanying facilities in Sopot.

2. Construction of an underground retention reservoir for rainwater including accompanying systems in the Babidolski stream catchment area in Sopot.

3. Construction of a sewage network in the towns of Pogrodzie, Nowinka, Chojnowo and Wodynia and connecting it to existing Tolkmicko wastewater treatment plant).

4. To prepare a concept for the system of rainwater purification in Mamonovo based on experience and achievements in Sopot municipality.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to improvement of traffic conditions of the IA Pan-European Transport Corridor by improving the conditions for transit and long distance traffic and reducing the problems caused by the traffic with which inhabitants of Panemune settlement (Lithuania) and Sovetsk town (Russia) are encountering.

After implementation of the project the following results will be achieved:


1. Road section 4 kilometres long is constructed.

2. The “fly-over” (crossover) the old water course of the river Neman 0.463 km in length on the road leading towards the bridge is constructed.

3. The bridgehead (length – 0.085 km) providing connection with the new bridge which should be built over Neman river by the Russian Federation is constructed.

The overall objective of the project is protection of the marine environment of the Baltic Sea area and improvement of life quality of Neman River delta population which will be achieved by reducing level of water pollution and improving of the access to good-quality drinking water in the project area including Neman River delta.

Main estimated results of the project are as follows:


1) Wastewater treatment infrastructure was created in Slavsk (Russia) (including construction of wastewater sewers (7000 meters), 9 pump stations and wastewater treatment facility).

2) Water supply and wastewater treatment infrastructure in Juknaiciai (Lithuania) were improved by construction of sewerage and water supply networks, gravity sewer and pressure sewer systems, 3 wastewater pump stations and by renovation of main wastewater pump station and treatment plant.

3) Water supply and wastewater treatment infrastructure in Pajuris (Lithuania) were improved by resonstruction of wastewater treatment plant, by building of water suply and wastewater networks and by installing one main sewage pump station and several water treatment plants within the existing well field.

4) The share of treated wastewater in the total volume produced by households and business entities in the project area was increased from 12.4% to 90.1% (e.g. the increase rate in Slavsk (Russia) equaled to 100%.

5) Drinking water quality standards were improved – 1400 people (Juknaiciai – 930, Pajuris – 470) directly benefited from this result.
6) The rate of access to good quality water for the population of Neman River delta was improved by connecting to the network 248 people (Juknaiciai – 104, Pajuris – 144).

7) The level of coordination of environmental protection of the territories on both sides of Neman River delta was increased through elaboration of recommendations on amendments to the development strategies of Slavsk, Silute and Silale municipalities and of concept of a joint project in the field of environmental protection.

8) Concentration of biochemical oxygen demand in 90.1% of the waters which are being discharged from Slavsk, Juknaiciai and Pajuris to Neman River delta area and further to the Baltic Sea was reduced to levels below 15 mg/l to meet by 2015 HELCOM’s “Recommendation concerning measures aimed at the reduction of discharges from urban areas by the use of effective methods in wastewater treatment”.

The overall objective of the project is to support social-economic development of the cross-border region on both sides of the border and improve the accessibility and traffic safety of the Polish-Russian border crossing Gołdap – Gusev through improving the quality of transport connections between national and international transport layout by increasing the quality of the subject section of the national road No. 65 and carrying capacity of the surface to 115 kN/axis.

Main estimated results of the project are as follows:

1)    Two-lane asphalt road of 15.6 km in length rebuilt and facilitated with technical infrastructure.

2)    Time savings rate for passengers in 2015 reached 1 199 534 EUR (23,02%).

3)    Time savings rate for freight – goods in 2015 reached 319 443 EUR (29,94%).

4)    The number of accidents decreased: pieces / 1 million * vehicles*km - 0,2049 (reduction of 9,7% in 2015).


5)    The number of fatalities decreased pieces / 1 million * vehicles*km - 0,0793 (reduction of 15,4% in 2015).

The overall objective of the project is to contribute towards protection and improvement of environment in the cross-border area through sustainable development of the coastal region and reduction of eutrophication in Kaliningrad Gulf/Vistula Lagoon and Bay of Gdansk coastal waters.

Main estimated results of the project are as follows:

1)    The new local waste water treatment plant (WWTP), with capacity of 4320 m3 per day is built.

2)    Municipal wastewater is treated, discharge of untreated wastewater to the Vistula lagoon is stopped.

3)    Coastal water quality is improved, eutrophication is reduced.

4)    Economic activity is increased due to the new operating wastewater treatment facility.

5)    Report on efficient wastewater management is developed.

6)    Residents of partner cities on both sides of the border are aware on benefits of cooperation in implementation of new facilities.

7)    Staff of the waste water treatment plant is trained and prepared for operation of the modern plant.

8)    Cooperation between two municipalities is enhanced.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute toward the increase of the intensity of use of the Trans European transport corridor 1-A “Riga-Kaliningrad-Gdansk” by cargo and passengers carriers including transit ones through improvement of the motorway and cross-border infrastructure.

Main estimated results of the project are as follows:

1.    New road dressing with the asphalt-concrete pavement of two traffic lanes from the right hand side in the direction of travel on the ready road bed from the km 24,7 to km 25,629 is constructed.

2.    The bridge crossing of 806 running m. length according to the standards of the category II from the right hand side in the direction of travel on 22,6 km is built.

3.    The ecological damage per vehicle is decreased.

4.    The road conditions are improved.

5.    Contribution is made to the decrease in the load on the motor roads leading to the nearest alternative border-crossing (Mamonovo-Gronowo, Bagrationovsk-Bezledy).

The overall objective of the project is to contribute towards improvement of the ecological conditions (waste water treatment) and living conditions (water supply situation) of the population of the river Neman basin and Baltic Sea, reducing water pollution of the Neman river in both border sides – the Republic of Lithuania and the Russian Federation (Kaliningrad region) and improving water supply situation in Jurbarkas district of the Republic of Lithuania.

Main estimated results of the project are as follows:

1.    Sewage system (13,460 km of sewage pipes) and water supply system (7,690 km of water supply pipes) constructed in town of Skirsnemunė (Lithuania);

2.    Watering station equipped with 112 m deep artesian well constructed in town of Skirsnemunė (Lithuania);

3.    The truck with the container handling equipment for sludge transportation from wastewater treatment facilities purchased for existing Jurbarkas sludge recycling plant (Lithuania);

4.    Wastewater treatment facility with the maximum load of 5748 cu m/ day constructed to ensure collection and treatment of waste water in the city of Neman (Russian Federation, Kaliningrad region).
