On June 24 (Monday) at 19:00 in the attic of the "Crown Prince" barracks (Kaliningrad, Litovskiy Val, 38, entrance № 6, 4th floor) the talk with the curator Catherine Becker (Germany) took place. The talk was organized within the framework of the exhibition «Remix: Images of locations around the world. Video works from the collection of n.b.k Video-Forum (Berlin, Germany). "

Catherine narrated about her experience of curating of the III Moscow International Biennale for Young Art (2012), advised what to do for young artists for them to get noticed, and shared her opinion on trends, in which contemporary art is developing right now.

Catherine Becker
Curator and writer from Berlin, who is currently the head of the Video Forum of new Berlin Art Association (Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k)) studied art history and Slavonic languages in Bochum, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Since the late 1990s, Becker has developed an international curatorial profile and worked in the area of the interference of mass and elite culture, the universal visual language and institutional practices as a method of cultural foreign policy between the societies of Western Europe, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
Becker has been the curator of numerous exhibitions in such organizations as the New Berlin Art Association (Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k)), Berlin; National Center for Contemporary Art, Moscow; Museum of PS 1 / Institute of Modern Art, New York; State Museum of Contemporary Art, Oslo; Winterthur Museum of Photo (Fotomuseum Winterthur); Pavilion Misa van der Rohe (Mies van der Rohe Pavillon), Barcelona; Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius; the Gallery of Capital, Prague; Works of art in Berlin / Institute of Contemporary Art KW (Kunst-Werke Berlin); Moscow House of Photography.
She also curated one-man exhibitions by such artists as Louise Bourgeois, Maryam Jafri, Matthias Mueller, Andrew Monastery, Hajnal Nemeth, Dmitri Prigov, Ming Wong and Arthur Żmijewski and one-man exhibitions “Stalin’s choice” - Soviet Socialist Realism 1932-1956; “Flight - Departure – Disappearance”; Moscow conceptual art; Can you hear me? Second Triennial of Photographic Art ARS Baltica; Remake of Berlin; Are there no bad girls anymore?
Becker has published numerous articles in journals and exhibition catalogues, and sat in a variety of curatorial groups, advisory councils and juries.
