Lithuania-Poland-Russia ENPI Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013 BW


Polish Borderland Foundation together with several partners including cultural associations from Russia, Lithuania and Poland submitted the project of the title “Borderland Atlantis – transborder cultural trail” under the measure 2.1 – tourist development which  recently has been signed by the JMA of the ENPI CBC Lithuania-Poland-Russia Programme. The Program’s contribution equals to 239 247.68 Euro.

Project links such Program’s areas as the Kaunas region of Lithuania, the Białostocko-Suwałski subregion of Poland and the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation. It units efforts of several partners - Kedainiai Regional Museum (Lithuania), Kaliningrad regional organization of writers (Russia), Center “Borderland of Arts, Cultures, Nations” (Russia) which together  will implement the series of tourist development related activities contributing to the development of good-neighbourly cooperation based on partnership between three borderline countries. This more specific idea of the project is creation of the joint cultural trail “Borderland Atlantis”, promotion of the common tourist product and  information on the neighbouring regions through sustainable and long-term educational, scientific and artistic cooperation.

Following main activities will be implemented within the 24-months’ duration of the action:

1. Creation of the “Borderland Atlantis” Cultural Trail as a new tourist product through towns Krasnogruda-Sejny (Poland), Kėdainiai (Lithuania), and Kaliningrad (Russia).

2. Publication of the “Guide of the Cultural Trail of the Borderland Atlantis” in four Program’s languages – Polish, Lithuanian, Russian and English (2000 copies).

3. Creation of the Internet-based multilingual database -“Library of the Borderland Atlantis” (in 4 Program’s languages) containing the publications concerning three cooperation regions

4. Creation of the “Borderland Atlantis” multimedia exhibition on the basis of the materials accumulated during the work on the Guide and the database.

5.  Organisation of “Smoothing the trial” expedition of a group of 30-young people who takes part in the in the creation of the Cultural Trail.

6. Organization of the 5-day training for 6 Cultural Trail guides (2 persons from each partner region).

7. Organization of the courses for 12 teachers (4 persons from each region) based on the materials gathered during the project  During which participants will gain knowledge concerning the cultural and natural heritage of the neighboring regions.

The Project is addressed to the wide target groups engaging especially youth, representatives of ethnic and religious minorities, members of regional cultural, artistic and tourist organizations, staff of local and regional governments, schools and universities. For all these groups Action offers a chance to get acquainted with  cultural heritage of borderland regions strengthening their identity.
